Courteney graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with her Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of Science in Public Relations. She graduated from the University of Houston Law Center with her Juris Doctorate degree.

While at UHLC, Courteney was the Executive Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law and was published in Volume 35 of the Journal. She has been the Chairwoman of the Houston Journal of International – Law Advisory Board since 2020—the Journal’s first female chair since its inception.

Courteney is a member of the Texas Bar.
