About Courteney

Courteney Daniel began her legal career working with Gus Vlahadamis and Kenny Sumner during her second year of law school. After passing the bar in 2013, she became a full-time attorney at the Vlahadamis Law Firm, P.C. She was made equity partner of the firm’s new iteration, Vlahadamis & Daniel, PLLC, in 2022.

Courteney and Gus joined the Romano and Sumner team at the beginning of 2026 to oversee the firm’s estate planning practice. Courteney’s practice focuses on trust and estate planning, corporate structuring, commercial contracts and business transactions.

Courteney graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with two bachelor’s degrees. She then graduated from the University of Houston Law Center with her J.D.

While at UHLC, Courteney was the Executive Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law and was published in Volume 35 of the Journal. She was the Chairwoman of the Houston Journal of International Law Advisory Board from 2020 to 2024—the Journal’s first female chair since its inception.

In Their Own Words:
Courteney T. Daniel

I was born in Texas, but during my childhood, I lived all over the U.S., as well as in Dhaka, Bangladesh and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. My father always had the travel bug, and so he made it a point to work at oil and gas companies that would afford him the opportunity to cart his wife and kids across the globe. We came back to Texas when I was in high school, and while my parents moved back to Malaysia, I stayed here and attended college at UT and then law school at UH.

In law school, I discovered a love for contract drafting and transactional work. This, combined with my desire to help people, led me to the world of estate planning. And the rest, they say, is history.

Even with all of these degrees under my belt, my biggest accomplishment is my marriage to my husband, Jordan. My father passed the travel bug on to me, and Jordan and I use almost every vacation day we have to travel the world. Some of our favorite places are Singapore, Tuscany and New Orleans. When we are not traveling, I spend my time reading (at least three books a week!), snuggling my cats, playing mahjongg, and DIY-ing (I will use any excuse to buy a new power tool).
