In Their Own Words
May Huynh

My name is May Huynh (pronounced hw-inn). I am of Vietnamese descent and was born to Vietnamese refugees who gave me opportunities they were not afforded. By their example, my parents instilled in me the values of hard work, resilience, and community.

I was raised in Houston, Texas and have lived here my entire life. For high school, I attended Incarnate Word Academy, a college preparatory school located in the heart of Downtown Houston. My time at IWA shaped my values, as the words of Mother Teresa to “Find your own Calcutta” transformed my trajectory and directives. To “Find your own Calcutta”, one does not have to travel far and wide to make a difference, but one can start right where they are even with small acts of love.

After high school, I attended the University of Houston where I received a dual degree in English and Political Science. There, I quickly realized that I wanted to become a lawyer because the art of storytelling, the mastery of the language, and the power of written word can change the world and help those around me.

I began my legal career at South Texas College of Law – Houston. I interned for two Harris County Family Court judges and the Office of the Attorney General – Child Support Division. Before joining Romano & Sumner, I worked at a boutique law firm and gained valuable experience in estate planning, tax, and bankruptcy law.

My education and legal career have given me the tools I need to support your needs. Thanks to those who have guided me, I believe that clients are more than just quotas on a spreadsheet – they are real people deserving of dignity, respect, and empathy.

In my free time, you will find me making a mess in the kitchen to attempt a recipe I found on TikTok. You will also find me pushing my physical limits in the gym or the volleyball court to the point of nearly throwing up. This may come across as “too intense”, but such intensity is mirrored in all aspects of my life, including my commitment to helping you.
