Paul Romano

Albert Romano - Houston, Texas

Albert Romano

I think that people should have an opportunity to get to know an attorney before they hire one. My name is Paul Albert Romano. “Albert” comes from my father, Albert Romano, who was an Optometrist in Houston, Texas for over fifty years. Dad is 81 years old now and retired from the eye business, but he is still my role model and inspiration. I am his only child, and I feel an obligation to carry on his legacy in an honorable manner.

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I grew up in a part of Houston called Memorial, and I went to the Kinkaid School from first grade until I graduated from high school. After high school, I attended the University of Texas in Austin, Texas where I received a degree in business finance.

After graduating from college I had dreams of becoming a lawyer some day; however, I felt I needed to see the world first. So, I joined the United States Army. In the Army I was stationed in Germany, Korea, Honduras and various army installations in the United States. I started out as an enlisted soldier in the intelligence corp, but I was accepted to officer candidate school in my second year and became a military intelligence officer. As much as I enjoyed the service, I still longed to practice law some day.

Paul Romano Golfing

After five years in the Army I left to fulfill my dream of becoming an attorney at the University of Texas School of Law. In 2002 I graduated and received my license to practice law.

I began my career as an attorney in Victoria, Texas where I learned from some of the best lawyers I know while practicing at a local firm called Cole, Cole & Easley. In 2008 my father was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Although dad survived his cancer, I decided that it was time for me to move back home.

In September of 2009, I moved my practice to Sugar Land, Texas. My office is located at 4610 Sweetwater Blvd, Ste. 200 Sugar Land, Tx.

My practice focuses on estate litigation, trust litigation, contested guardianshps, probate and estate planning. I represent clients in Houston, Harris County and Sugar Land, Ft. Bend County. Fill out this contact form and get a free consultation.

Kenneth “Kenny” Sumner, Jr.

Kenny's kidsI was born in Littleton, Colorado, but didn’t stay there long.  My father was an engineer who worked for a large oil company, and when I was six we were transferred overseas to England.  We moved around quite a bit, but spent the majority of time in London.  Like most kids, I wasn’t able to recognize at the time how fantastic an opportunity this was and how it shaped the way I view the world.  I attended both American schools (I am an Alumni of the American School in London or “ASL”) as well as English grammar schools (where we wore uniforms and where I learned to write with a fountain pen and tie a tie).  Being exposed to two very different school systems honed my ability to approach problems in a variety of ways—a skill that has served me well. Our family moved back to the United States—to Sugar Land, Texas—where I attended Clements High School.  I went on to the University of Houston where I completed my undergraduate in Information Technology and the Entrepreneurship Program.  It was here that I developed my passion for small business.  I later began Law School at South Texas College of Law and then transferred to the University of Houston Law Center, where I served on the Houston Journal of Health Law and Policy.  I clerked at several law firms in Houston and interned for the Texas Supreme Court.  After Law School, I started at a large Houston Law Firm, before striking out on my own.  In April of 2013 I partnered with Paul Romano to form the Sugar Land law firm of Romano & Sumner, PLLC. My practice focuses on Litigation, advising startup Businesses, and issues involving the Texas Estate Codes such as Wills, Trusts, Probate and Guardianships. I have met the certification to be able to bring and defend Guardianship proceedings in the State of Texas, and am also routinely appointed by Courts to serve as an Attorney Ad Litem and/or Guardian Ad Litem to protect the interests of a proposed ward. My wife, Cynthia, and I have two children.  I am a volunteer for Fort Bend Lawyers Care, a non-profit organization that provides legal services to indigent parties in Fort Bend County, and I am also a Member of Fort Bend CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), an organization that assigns members as Guardian Ad Litems for children taken into the State of Texas Custody by Child Protective Services.  I live locally and believe in supporting our community. It is my hope that you have been able to find out more about me which in turn provides a level of comfort and confidence should you honor me with the ability to represent you. If you would like to discuss your legal matter with Sugar Land lawyer Kenny Sumner or the Sugar Land law firm of Romano & Sumner, please contact us.

Kelsey GrayKelsey Gray, attorney at Romano Sumner

I grew up in the small town of Jasper, Texas surrounded by the pine trees and countless pets of all kinds. My parents wanted to raise my four brothers and me in the country, and they certainly accomplished their goal. I had free range of our 100+ acres of Southeast Texas woods, and my horse Buddy and I explored almost every inch. Growing up as the second child and only girl with four brothers is no easy task. Brothers teach you to be resilient and tough, but more than anything, I learned loyalty and love. My family means the world to me, and my brothers and parents are some of the greatest people I know. Kelsey Gray, attorney at Romano SumnerMy father (and my grandfather and multiple uncles) are also attorneys, and I grew up in awe of the profession. When I graduated from Jasper High School, Texas A&M University was the only college to which I applied. Before the end of my first semester,  I had already met with a career counselor to ask about law school. She told me I had a lot of time ahead of me and to stop and smell the roses. So, I did. I joined a sorority, was a fish camp counselor, volunteered at a child abuse intake center, taught GED classes, went to all the tailgates and had a great three and a half years. The last semester I spent studying in Sevilla, Spain and had just as much fun. Right before Spain I took the LSAT and applied to law schools and I got my acceptance to South Texas College of Law while I was abroad. I met my husband, Andrew, in my last year at South Texas in the library while studying for finals. Seeing him walk in my study room made the struggle of law school worth it. We got married after law school at my parents’ house in Jasper. Somehow it all comes full circle. Now, Romano & Sumner has become another part of my family. This is a place where we care about each other and we care about our clients. Family means a lot to us, and it is evident in our practice. I hope I will get the opportunity to assist you and your family.

Nick Noe

I was blessed to be born and raised here in Sugar Land, Texas. I attended Commonwealth Elementary and Fort Settlement Middle School. For high school, I attended Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, and it changed my life. At Strake Jesuit, I learned to be a “Man for Others” and the meaning of the phrase “to whom much is given, much is expected.” Strake instilled in me a strong sense of gratitude and service that remains to this day.

When I left Strake, I did not know what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. I earned a degree in Theology and English from Franciscan University of Steubenville, and after graduating, I joined the Strake Jesuit Alumni Service Corps for a one-year term.

In this program I taught a section of British Literature, helped develop the nascent Learning Resource Center (the center for students with learning differences), and assisted in the many student retreats hosted by the school. It was during this time that I realized that being a lawyer would allow me to combine my love for writing, research and teaching and my desire to serve others.

After my time in the Alumni Service Corps was over, I began my legal career at South Texas College of Law – Houston.  During my law school career, I married my wife Mary, and we now have two boys. After graduating, I began my career at a boutique probate litigation firm in Houston. I joined the Romano & Sumner family in November of 2019. At Romano & Sumner, we are here to serve you, and we are honored to be trusted with your legal matters. I look forward to meeting you.
