Kenneth “Kenny” Sumner, Jr. – Sugar Land Lawyer, Fort Bend County, Texas

I was born in Littleton, Colorado, but didn’t stay there long.  My father was an engineer who worked for a large oil company, and when I was six we were transferred overseas to England.  We moved around quite a bit, but spent the majority of time in London.  Like most kids, I wasn’t able to recognize at the time how fantastic an opportunity this was and how it shaped the way I view the world.  I attended both American schools (I am an Alumni of the American School in London or “ASL”) as well as English grammar schools (where we wore uniforms and where I learned to write with a fountain pen and tie a tie).  Being exposed to two very different school systems honed my ability to approach problems in a variety of ways—a skill that has served me well.

Our family moved back to the United States—to Sugar Land, Texas—where I attended Clements High School.  I went on to the University of Houston where I completed my undergraduate in Information Technology and the Entrepreneurship Program.  It was here that I developed my passion for small business.  I later began Law School at South Texas College of Law and then transferred to the University of Houston Law Center, where I served on the Houston Journal of Health Law and Policy.  I clerked at several law firms in Houston and interned for the Texas Supreme Court.  After Law School, I started at a large Houston Law Firm, before striking out on my own.  In April of 2013 I partnered with Paul Romano to form the Sugar Land law firm of Romano & Sumner, PLLC.

I initially started my practice focusing on Litigation, advising startup Businesses, and Wills, Trusts and Probate.  My volunteer work with children led me to practice Family Law as well.

I am married to my wife, Cynthia, and I have two small children.  I am a volunteer for Fort Bend Lawyers Care, a non-profit organization that provides legal services to indigent parties in Fort Bend County, and I am also a Member of Fort Bend CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), an organization that assigns members as Guardian Ad Litems for children taken into the State of Texas Custody by Child Protective Services.  I live locally and believe in supporting our community.

It is my hope that you have been able to find out more about me which in turn provides a level of comfort and confidence should you honor me with the ability to represent you.
